Patrick and I couldn’t resist the allure of Porto’s vibrant shopping scene. We dedicated a day to exploring the city’s diverse retail offerings, starting with a visit to the historic Bolhão Market. With Patrick being Brazilian, which stems from a Portuguese background, he was super intrigued with exploring their markets to learn about their food and culture and how it’s influenced Brasil. The market’s lively atmosphere, colorful stalls, and array of fresh produce and local delicacies were a total treat. We sampled various Portuguese foods such as bacalhau (cod), francesinha, and pastel de Nata, our favorite!

For a unique shopping experience, head to Santa Catarina Street, one of Porto’s main shopping streets. To me, this felt like a smaller, more modest version of Milan’s Quadrilatero della Moda shopping district. Here, you’ll find an array of international brands, local boutiques, and charming cafés. You can also explore the traditional Portuguese shops in the Miguel Bombarda area, known for its art galleries and trendy stores.

2. São Lázaro Condo: Situated near the Praça dos Poveiros, this cozy condo offers a a modern and luxurious experience right in the mix of the city. Close to many restaurants, shops and nearby markets and walking distance to other historical monuments.

As we walked through the hilly streets of Porto, Patrick and I were captivated by the city’s unique charm. The intricate tile work adorning the buildings was a constant source of wonder, and we often pondered what stories of history those buildings could tell. To make the most of our time in Porto, we decided to rent electric bikes from Ciclo Ebikes and venture to the nearby beaches. The refreshing sea breeze, golden sand, and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean were just around the corner and took our breaths away. It was definitely one of our favorite parts of the trip.
